Last weekend the Protegimus office team ventured out to the Midland Game & Country Fair at Weston Park in Staffordshire.
As first-time visitors, we didn’t know what to expect – we’ve all been to similarly themed events like Chatsworth Country Fair, but the Midland certainly delivers something far more! Set in the stunning grounds of Weston Park, the fair is spread over a vast area with plenty to see and do.
With food and drink, live music and main arena events including the Knights of Middle England there was something for everyone.
We spent much of our day walking around the expanse of trade stands. Gun Makers Row certainly grasped our attention, with over 200 stands in this area alone showcasing the world’s leading manufacturers of shotguns, rifles, airguns and related accessories.
After a quick catch-up with the guys at Scott Country International who were displaying their extensive range of Pulsar Night Vision and Thermal Imaging gear along with the latest additions to the Cannae line, we headed over to the Working Dog Village – a personal interest of mine.
After even more trade stands we took a break to watch the Chudleys Gundog Championship. I took a few tips home with me to work on with the Tactical Spaniel!
Ferret racing and a Falconry display finished what had been a fully immersive day.
The long walk back to the car lead us past one of the best Field Target ranges we have ever seen - the BFTA 2017 European Championship appeared to be well supported, with competitors still on the range at five o’clock.
We would recommend the Midland Game Fair to anyone interested in country pursuits. We’ve come back to the office with some new product ideas which will fit in nicely with our current inventory – keep a look out for updates on these.
We have been discussing whether to take Protegimus Tactical out on the road next year. To visit an event like this has certainly inspired us to investigate the possibility further. We will keep you posted as our plans develop.
